It is with the most heartfelt regret that we have to say good bye to Shane and Donley.  After being with us for over four and a half years they have found a house with a barn on it so that Miss Daisy can be just outside the back door.  We wish you the best!

Brandon and Melanie Lord's mare Summer, gave the new barn its first baby.  The spry little Filly named "Autumn Rainey" was born this morning and is a proud addition to the Lord Family "Herd".

 December 19th

Christmas Party

A great time was enjoyed by everyone at the barn Christmas party in the new lounge.  The Dirty Santa game proved that even some of the tamest of the group can get their boxing gloves on when it comes to the coffee table horse book and Cowboy statue.  Attendees included: The Clark’s, McBride’s, Vick’s, Jones’s, Lord’s, Womack’s, Drinnon’s, The Watford family, Miss Isles, Miss Fitzgibbons, Ms. Wallace, Ms. Dolan, Miss Mullins, Miss Maki, Miss Terrasi, Miss Eavenson and guest, Ms. Dalton and guest, Miss Sovoda and Danny, Steve and fiancé, The Williams family, and Ms. Glosson.

December 18th

More achievements with Boarders from GB's

Several of the group at GB's are active in the Natural Horsemanship Community, which is why we were so proud that Joann McBride recently passed her level two Parelli exam, while Jennifer Maki passed her level one, and Linda Wallace is currently taking her level one exam. Why to go ladies!

Each Tuesday beginning December 8th

KMVS will be each Tuesday

Due to the large amount of business that KMVS does with GB's the veterinary group has decided to be here each Tuesday.  Even though they will come out any other time you need them, they will for sure be here on Tuesday's, which means even if you are the only one needing them that day you only have to pay 1/2 a trip charge.

November 28-30

Fall Retreat at Cobbtown

The 2nd annual Men's (and Mira and Holly) Trip to Cobbtown, GA and the Johnson Family Farm was a success.  Lots of fun, fellowship, and over 15 miles of riding took place. This made the third trip for Cobbtown for GB's.  Ron Clark, Ernie Drinnon, Doyle Vick, Mira Dimova, and Chad Williams have attended all three times, while Brandon Lord, Mark Alston, and Holly Grossman enjoyed their first visit here.

November 21

Ribbons, Ribbons, Ribbons

We have to finish the new barn just to store all of the ribbons we've gotten lately.  On the 19th Joanne placed 5th (out of 22) and Laurie placed 4th in an Extreme Trail Competition. While on the 26th Ribbons were handed out frequently to GB riders at the Wild Horse Creek show as Ernie Drinnon with April, Doyle and Christa Vick with Finn and Cisco, Hailey Jones with JoJo, Olivia Leviton with Thumbelina, and of course Peggy Dalton as trainer of all, showed their stuff to the judges and the large group at the park.  Way to go!

Either meet us at the barn at 7:15 or be at Jim R. Miller Park by 8:00pm to ensure your seat for the Cobb County Rodeo. Remember to wear to GB's T-shirt to represent!  Where we go afterwards has yet to be determined......Don't the Vick's have a place nearby?

Summer 2008

The Show Circuit

For those of you who love shows this is the summer to be at GB's.  Already throughout the spring Joanne, Christa, Doyle, Peggy, Nancy, Leslie, Hailey, Jennifer, Olivia, and Katelyn have represented GB's well by obtaining lots of Blue Ribbons.  This summer though we're seeing a group go to the International QH Championship in Oklahoma and several other more local shows here in the south east.  Don't worry though they'll be plenty of trail rides too!

Needless to say GB's came back looking like a winner after a group of the ladies went to the Dixie Horse Show in Whitesburg.  In attendance were: Leslie and Hailey Jones, Christa Vick, Joann McBride, Paige Shackelford, and Louise and Olivia Leviton.  If you talk to Leslie and Hailey you'd think Smokey was going to the Olympics with all the ribbons he received!  Of course Paige and Flash
got 3rd place in "Spotted Horse Pleasure," while Olivia and and Sparky were 2nd in the "Water Glass Class, and Joanne and Archie took 2nd in the "Mini-Extreme Cowboy Race."  Where will we put all the trophies?

Men's Weekend at Cobbtown

Ron Clark has been telling us for years to join the fun at the Johnson Family Farm.  Well this time we listened.  Six of us guys from GB's went and had a great time riding, socializing, eating, and solving the world's problems with about 200 other people.  Thanks to Jeremiah Johnson (I mean Doug) we had a great fire and luckily no causalities resulted from our encounter with the "big" Yorkshire Hog.  Look over the pictures and see what fun everyone had Cobbtown Trail Ride (type in Cobbtown in the search bar)

Aug. 3-5 2007

August 3-5: The big weekend camping trip at Hard Labor Creek was a great success.  Fifteen from GB's went for the weekend and enjoyed the riding even if the heat was a bit much!  We are looking forward to the cooler weather when we will be venturing over for another weekend camping/trip with the GB's crew.

June 23rd 2007

June 23: Trainer Ashley Morrison had a busy weekend here at the barn.  Several of her students accompanied her for weekend camping in the woods beside the lake.  Not only did they have fun, but they also spent a lot of time training and expanding their equestrian knowledge.

June 21st 2007       Parelli play day with Laurie Wilson

Click for Pictures

June 21st was the second play day with Laurie Wilson. Laurie is a 3rd level Parelli student that has agreed to come to GB’s Stable once a week to help our barn better understand the natural horsemanship program "Parelli”. We have had two very successful clinics and look forward to continuing our journey with Laurie.

  • Beginner sessions start at 6:30 pm - For those interested in learning about the program or have just started.
  • Advanced sessions start at 7:30pm - For those with knowledge and experience with the "Parelli" Program looking to further their current skill.

June 16th 2007

June 16th: A group of 25 from GB’s enjoyed the evening at the Cobb County Rodeo.  Not only were we reminded that the skill that goes into these performances require years of work with your horse, but we also realized we should probably stick to the trails and shows with our horses! Afterwards the girls had a night out at Cowboys.

May 10th 2007

May 10: The “Learn and Earn After School Program” ended today at GB’s with an evening cookout for the participants and their families.  This program has given students from Osborne High School in Marietta the opportunity to learn about horsemanship and the skills of riding throughout the Spring Semester.  This has been a highly successful program and is part of our commitment to sharing the benefits our facility has with the community.  For more information see our broadcast on Channel 46 News coming up later this month.

May 6th 2007 Cheatham Hill Click for pictures

June 7th: One of the perks of boarding at GB’s Stable is the surrounding landmarks, parks, and trails that are easily accessible for trial rides. One of the favorite places for our barn members is “Cheathem Hill” at Kennesaw Mountain. On June 5th, 2007 a group of nine from GB's set out and completed a four hour ride along the trails.

As for the future, an overnight trail ride is in the works for a weekend in August.  We are looking at going to Hard Labor Creek Park in Rutledge, Georgia and are hoping for a big crowd!

April 28th 2007

April 28th: It was a fun time at the Williams Family and GB's Stable Annual Cookout with 275 guests attending the annual occasion at the property of Vonceil Williams on Hurt Road in Smyrna. Guests included U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Marietta), Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin, Cobb Sheriff Neil Warren, state Rep. Terry Johnson (D-Marietta), Smyrna Mayor Max Bacon, former Cobb Commissioner Woody Thompson, Smyrna Councilman Bill Scoggins, former Smyrna Mayor Harold Smith and the Rev. Clarence Howard of Milford Baptist Church.

"The annual event is an opportunity for us to show our appreciation to our community for their support through the years," said Chad Williams, grandson of Vonceil and the late GB Williams, who purchased the 100-acre property in 1949. Vonceil's son and Chad's dad, Terry, said that next year they are going to get Mayor Bacon to give pony rides on his paint horse "Washakie."  (By: Bill Kinney, Marietta Daily Journal, 05/08/07)
